Father: William N. ORE Mother: Malinda ADKISSON NotesMae E. Orr, lived with her husband, John J. Ivy, near the present Mr. Howard
Ivy farm on Brooksie Thompson road in Decatur County. John J. served in the
Civil War. While he was away in service, she hid meat, cows and horses in the
woods on the farm to keep Yankee soldiers from taking them. Each day, she would
go out into the woods to tend the livestock and to cut off meat for family
meals. |
