Notes

William Nixson stabbed and murdered Zachariah. There being no jail in the frontier area of Shelby Co. at that time, William was transported to the jail in Huntsville, AL. He was later brought back for trial, and was hung for murder on Nov. 8, 1822, between the hours of noon and 4:00 p.m.
