Patrick Henry Butler was born 1859 in Walker Co. AL as the third child of James M. Butler and Amanda Bishop. He was born on a land patent purchased by his father in 1857. In 1861, Patrick moved with the family to northern Alabama. By 1870, Patrick had moved to Decatur Co. TN along with his parents and several siblings. Patrick farmed and raised cotton along with his brothers Austin and Columbus in Decatur Co. near Point Pleasant, TN.

Patrick never married and died in 1889 at the age of 30. He is buried at the Butler Cemetery in Decatur Co. TN.

Patrick is listed as Mandrid V. Butler in the 1880 census in Decatur Co. TN.
