David ADKISSON , Jr.ABT 1797 - 1887
Father: David ADKISSON Mother: ? Notes"Soon after settling down at Wayland Springs, an event took place that was
to make David wonder at what kind of a woman he had taken as a wife. He
returned home one day to find his bride, not much bigger than his fist, at work
on the kitchen floor butchering a 600 pound bear she had stunned. She had baked
two chess pies and placed them on the table to cool. She then went to the
spring. Upon her return, she found a huge black bear eating one of her pies. No
problem - she took an iron skillet and bashed his skull in. A woman with even a
frying pan is a dangerous thing." |
