Mrs. Kent has 100th Birthday – Jerry and Linda Butler

Shared note	Mrs. Kent has 100th Birthday Mrs. Kitty Lancaster Kent celebrated her 100th birthday Saturday, October 23, at the Care Inn, Covington Pike, Memphis. She was honored with a reception on Sunday, given by her grandchildren, Joan Wilham of Memphis and Johnny Clement of Lexington, KY. The festivities were opened by a poem by Tillman Stewart, a nephew of Lexington. It was entitled, "Tell Her Now" which was very appropriate since we were gathered there for that reason to tell her now that we love her. The spry old lady of 100 years refused the offer of a wheel chair and briskly walked part of the way to the reception room and took only three tries to blow out the 100 candles on the beautiful birthday cake and asked why everyone waited until she was 100 before they came to see her. She is a native of Decatur County, born and reared in Red Walnut community, near Scotts Hill, but has lived in Memphis for several years. Attending the reception from this area were nieces and nephews, Grady Lancaster, Bath Springs, Jesse R. Lancaster, Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. John Stephens, Detroit, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Chester Beaty, Madison, Tillman Stewart, Lexington, great nieces and nephews, Kathleen McBride, Melba Martin, Bath Springs, Geneva Montgomery, Scotts Hill, Mary Lynn Butler, Decaturville, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lancaster, Parsons, two great great nieces, Marty Lancaster, Scotts Hill, and Betty Butler Maness, Jackson.
