William F. (Frank) Goff , LEXINGTON

Funeral services for William F. (Frank) Goff, 89, will be held at 1:00 P.M., December 23, 2005, at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington with burial to follow in Lexington City Cemetery.

Mr. Goff, a retired banker, businessman and farmer, died peacefully at home in Chesterfield on Wednesday, December 21, 2005.

Mr. Goff was preceded in death by his parents William McKinley Goff and Lavonia Waller Goff; stepmother, Noraine Walker Goff, and sister Marie Goff Adams. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nell Farlow Goff. Other survivors include a sister, Virginia Butler; nephews Ralph Butler (Judy), Tommy Butler, James W. Adams, Jeffrey G. Adams (Karis), and Jon Goff (Carol); and nieces Bonnie Goff and Tammy Goff.

Mr. Goff attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and West Tennessee Business College, working summers at Hennessee's Soda Fountain. His first full time job was with R.J. Reynolds Company of Indianapolis, IN. He returned to Lexington in 1938 and worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank before joining the military in 1941. Mr. Goff served in the military until 1945, serving with honor in various locations stateside and abroad (India). Upon being discharged, he returned to the First National Bank in Lexington, where he worked until 1948. He then worked with his uncle, Hobart Goff, at the Goff Motor Company for ten years. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife, Nell, whom he married on September 25, 1949.

After a short time with First Farmers Union Bank, Mr. Goff returned to First National Bank in Lexington in 1960. He held virtually every office in the bank, retiring in 1979 as bank president. He continued to serve as a local banking consultant after retirement. In addition to his banking career, Mr. Goff had farming interests in Carroll, Henderson, and Benton counties. Mr. Goff was a charter member of the Lexington Lions Club and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Chesterfield. He thoroughly enjoyed his life and will be missed by family and friends who are left to cherish his memory.
