Helen Keeton Hearington, 86, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at Westwood Healthcare in Decaturville. She was born February 28, 1924 on the family farm in the Dunbar Community of southern Decatur County. She was the third child born to Bedford B. and Ora (Duck) Keeton whom both preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Decaturville High School and later received her B.S. Degree from Memphis State University. She was a teacher at Bartlett High School in Memphis before retiring and returning home in 1979 to help care for her parents.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sunset #154 and the Bath Springs United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hearington; brothers, Charles and Billy Keeton; sisters, Ruth Lafferty and Dorothy Blankenship. Her survivors include sisters, Marjorie (Fred Lee) Fiddler of Lexington, Sue Reynolds of Jackson and brothers Donald (Anne) Keeton of Greensboro, NC and Bryan Keeton of Bath Springs, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service was held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 1 PM at Decaturville First United Methodist Church with burial following in Keeton Cemetery near Bath Springs. Reeds Chapel - Decaturville was in charge of arrangements. |
