Mary Jane and Thurman Coy lived with her brother John for a few years [after the death of Johnson Parrish]. Later she moved into another house and cared for her mother, Sarah, for a few years. When my dad was around 20 years old he joined Roosevelt's CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) and he was sent to the mountains of Polk County in extreme southeast Tennessee. There he met my mother, Susie Jane King, and they were married. He returned to Decatur County to get my grandmother, Mary Jane. She also moved to Polk County and she never returned to the Perry/Decatur area. She was perfectly happy though and never gave any indication that she wanted to live anywhere else. My dad also loved the mountains and I think he would have stayed here even if he hadn't met and married my mother.
