CHARLESTON - Gracie Geraldine Welch, 73, died at 3:30 p.m. June 13, 2005, at her residence in Charleston.
Born Feb. 18, 1932, in Deventer, daughter of the late Raymond and Lorene Cherry Field, she had lived in St. Louis for 44 years, where she had been employed with Town House Furniture Company retiring in 1983. She moved back to Mississippi County in 1997, where she attended the Wyatt Baptist Church.

On May 31, 1950, she married Eugene "Billy" Welch, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Linda Welch of St. Peters; two brothers, Ron Fields of Overland Park, Kan., and Kenneth Fields of Piedmont; three sisters, Sue Witt of Gulfport, Miss., and Jean Fields and Sherry Wicker of Seattle, Wash.; and three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-granchildren.

Three brothers, Glen Fields, Jerry Dale Fields and Roy Verlon Fields; and two sisters, Bernice Murphy and Laverne Woodfin, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
