Death
Shared note

Virgie Americus Butler was born in 1862 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Virgie was the youngest child of James M. Butler and Amanda Bishop. She moved with the family to Decatur Co. TN around 1870.

In 1890, Virgie married the Methodist minister, Nicholas Rowan Marr. The marriage ceremony was conducted by her half brother Billy Butler, who was also a Methodist minister.

Rowan and Virgie had three children - Ernest Butler Marr, Virginia Butler Marr, and Welborn Mooney Marr. Ernest died at two; Virginia and Welborn lived to adulthood.

Rowan died in 1895 and is buried at the Hebron Cemetery in Carroll Co. TN. Virgie did not remarry but moved to Memphis and lived with her son, Welborn until her death in 1944.

In the 1930 census, Virgie Marr is living in the Welborn Marr household.
