Gerald Lloyd Montgomery,

Mr. Gerald Lloyd Montgomery, age 78, formerly of Lexington, passed away after a short illness, at his home in Knoxville on July 12, 2006.

He was born October 8, 1927 in Lexington, TN. Mr. Montgomery lived the majority of his life in Lexington before moving to Knoxville in December 2004.

From 1948 to 1984, he was a partner in and later owner of Montgomery & Sons Dry Goods, which was originally founded in 1926. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Violet (Butler) Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Ethelynn; two sons, Mark and wife Cindy of Dickson, TN and David and wife Jill of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Kevin and wife Ashley of Florence, AL, Jeni Montgomery Powell and husband Kris of Erin, TN, Katie Montgomery of Nashville, Emily Montgomery of Knoxville, and Matthew Montgomery of Dickson, TN; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Jordan Montgomery of Florence, AL; one sister, Dorothy Jean Montgomery Stivers and husband, Dr. Rupert Stivers of Paducah, KY, and several other relatives and close friends.

Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 15, 2006 with the burial immediately following at Lexington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church in Lexington or your favorite charity.
