Butler, 85, of Bristol, VA and formerly of Jacksonville, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Bristol Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor James Asher officiating. Mr. Butler was a retired Chief Warrant Officer in the USMC. He was a son of the late Jessie M. Butler and Catherine Thornton Butler and was also preceded in death by a sister, Jesse Mae Jones. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Thomas of Verona, Arlyne Bates of Jacksonville and Emily Butler of Beaufort; two sons, Phillip Wayne Butler of Waynesville and Christopher Butler of Beaufort; and one brother, Ben Jackson Butler of Bristol, VA.
